Holy cow-ish.
May 26, 2009 at 4:28 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | 1 Comment(Lisa asked me to blog today. So fine.)
HOLY wow. So I don’t know YouTube’s deal, but I am so thankful for the “related videos” box. Like, LOOK:
I mean, really? Is there ANYTHING better? If I had known that was going to happen, I would have paid all that money to go on the Rock Boat just to see that one minute.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Joy in my life.
I heart Staples
May 17, 2009 at 1:40 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | 3 CommentsSo I needed to go to Staples to get some poster-board for my Good Cit exhibition project. My mom charges all the photocopying for her office on her credit card (and gets reimbursed) and uses her little rewards card, too, and somehow she managed to earn $30.70 in free money to spend!! I got my poster-board and a giant 24-pack of Sharpies for FREEEEEEE. My mom also got some silly little rubber stopper things to make up the rest of the difference. But I’m in Sharpie heaven! The only problem is that they’re the “Couleurs Café” ones and some of the colors are darker and yuckier, but it didn’t cost anything so I decided that if there are colors that aren’t in the pack that I need, I can just buy them individually at AC Moore or something. I’m about to test all the colors out right now. And now I’m reminiscing about geriatrics :D
SHARPIEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
Poladroids
May 16, 2009 at 7:31 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | 2 CommentsSayde posted about Poladroids the other day, and I finally downloaded the application. I LOVE it!! It’s such a cool idea, and it makes some pretty nifty pictures. Of course, I experimented with Hanson photos.

The last one is my favorite :) I also tried to find some fun pics that were in my iPhoto to use, and I found a few from a photoshoot that Samantha and I had sophomore year. Hahahaha.

I don’t know if she wants this to be displayed on the internet, but whatever. She waives any rights she has just by being my friend. You should all play around with Poladroid. It’s so much fun. Sadye linked to it in her blog, so you can deal with it that way because I’m way too lazy to make an effort to link to the page because I just uploaded six pictures and it drained a lot out of me. Phewf. Have to go do something productive now. Haha yeah RIGHT.
New-to-me music.
May 16, 2009 at 5:59 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a commentIn listening to the free live album from Coldplay, I realized that some of the songs I had never heard before must have been recorded at one point or another. I was assuming that Coldplay wouldn’t release them for the first time on this free live thingy. I knew they weren’t on any of the four studio albums they’ve released because I have them all, so I thought maybe there were EPs or live albums or something.
Well, whaddayaknow. There are a BUNCH of Coldplay songs that I don’t have! I was pretty surprised, but then I realized that it makes a lot of sense that I wouldn’t have know. I mean, I don’t follow them like I follow Hanson, so I wouldn’t know about stuff like that. But they released an EP called “Prospekt’s March” after they released “Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends” and it’s 8 songs that didn’t make it to the album plus an alternate version of the Viva la Vida music video and a digital booklet. It cost $5.99 but it was worth over $10 when I added all the songs up. (Allie is so right that now iTunes charges $1.29 for “popular” songs! What BS. But that’s why I bought the whole album, hehe.)
I listened to “LeftRightLeftRightLeft” twice today, and now I’m really enjoying “Prospekt’s March”. I love getting new music!!
Free music!
May 16, 2009 at 2:08 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | 1 CommentColdplay posted a free live album for download! It’s called “LeftRightLeftRightLeft” and you can get it here. I just imported it into iTunes and I’m about 1:30 into the first song (“Glass of Water”) and I’m enjoying it immensely. You should get it. It’s free. And good. Duh.
Mother’s Day
May 10, 2009 at 11:40 am | Posted in Uncategorized | 1 CommentHappy Mother’s Day to all you moms out there. Because there are SOOOO many of you. But I guess I could have random people who don’t know me reading my blog, and maybe they’re mothers. So. Happy Mother’s Day.
Read an article yesterday. It was a review of TW’s album. This infuriated me:
Snicker all you want, but the Brothers Hanson – at their heart – were a power pop band, who even collaborated with genre giant Matthew Sweet before breaking up.
WTF. THEY’RE STILL TOGETHER. I usually leave comments on articles like that to correct them when they are so blatantly wrong, but not when it requires me to create an account and login. That’s just dumb. But all these people have no idea that Hanson still exists… And why would they break up? They’re brothers, for Taylord’s sake! It just bugs the hell out of me when people are that uninformed about what they’re reporting.
On a happier note, this video is amazing. I love the arrangement of the song, and their voices go together so well.
And for some obnoxious reason, I can’t get that ridiculous quotes speech bubble to go away. So pretend it has a personalized message to each of you, okay?
Happy Birthday, TOMS!
May 5, 2009 at 3:41 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | 2 CommentsI got an email this afternoon saying that TOMS Shoes turns 3 years old today! Here are some cool facts that the email shared:
- Over 140,000 pairs of shoes have been given to children in need.
- TOMS gives in Ethiopia five days a week!
- Over 74,000 people participated in One Day Without Shoes this year (which I think is an underestimate because what about all the people like me who sort of kind of participated?).
Yeah. So that’s pretty awesome. And their “birthday” would be the day before Hanson Day. Come on, now.
UPDATE: So I was just on the TOMS website and I guess they sell a “gift pack” that includes the TOMS documentary and a gift card redeemable for a pair up to $50… and the whole pack sells for $50! So you basically could buy a pair of $48 dollar TOMS and get the DVD free. Plus, they donate a pair of shoes for each pack sold, just like they do for all their shoes and apparel and gear and stuff. What ISN’T to love about the company?
Recent Purchase
May 4, 2009 at 7:30 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a commentI just bought an album on iTunes. It’s still downloading. James Morrison’s “Songs For You, Truths For Me.” I haven’t listened to it yet, but maybe I’ll do a track-by-track later to let you all know what I think of it. (I was actually planning on doing that for the Tinted Windows album, but that seems so old now… Maybe I’ll do both, though. Because I constantly feel the need to do commentary on EVERYTHING.)
Why do I feel the need to make these tiny little posts? I feel like I’m tweeting or something. (I’m NOT getting a twitter, by the way.)
WE HEART ALLIE.
May 4, 2009 at 7:10 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | 2 CommentsSo, Allie wasn’t having the best day today.
I just wanted to say that WE LOVE YOU ALLIE! Even though Sarah defaced your note and never gave it back to you. I mean, Zac and Taylor signed it, and she defaced it. Pity.
Also, good luck on your AP Spanish exam tomorrow because I won’t see you. I know you’ll do half-way decent! Hehe. No, but really. Good luck!
Ground-breaking news… not really.
May 2, 2009 at 8:06 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | 3 CommentsSo some of you may now know what Sadye was born inside the amniotic sac. Gross, I know. I didn’t believe it until we did some research. They call it being born “in the caul” because I guess the caul is another name for the amniotic sac…? Anyway. You all know the character Holden Caulfield from The Catcher in The Rye, right? Well, he was supposedly named that as a play on him being born in the caul. Like, “hold in caul”… Holden Caulfield… get it? Isn’t that crazy? Maybe you don’t think so, but Sadye and I do. The explanation went on about how people born in the caul have certain personality traits and there are myths that accompany being born in the caul or whatever and that is supposed to be what Holden’s deal is. So I think that’s really clever on JD Salinger’s part. And I wish I had known that all three of the times that I’ve read that book. Acutally, just knowing ONE time would have been nice. But now I’ll know for next time.
Yay for H1N1!!
